We desire to build a facility that enables us to share the love of Jesus by serving a diverse community with a caring and accepting church family.
Our goal is to model the approach of Jesus as we minister to our community through engaging activities and relationship-based programs.
Mountain View Seventh-day Adventist Church was organized in November 1973 by 20 charter members. As with many start-up churches, we have been rental tenants. We have had four different facilities on the west side of Calgary through the years. Our church community has now grown to 275 members.
Our dream of building a church began when we had the opportunity to acquire land. Our land's proximity to Chinook Winds Adventist Academy, and the surrounding neighbourhood developments that are planned, will place us in a wonderful position for community service and impact.
The time has come to make our dream a reality so that we are better positioned to serve our community.
Since our church was first planted over 50 years ago, Mountain View's mission has been to share the love of Jesus with others. In practical ways, we desire to serve our community through relationship-based ministries that meet people's needs and lead them to a meaningful connection with Jesus.
When we have a church building of our own, we envision becoming a centre of influence where our church can more effectively reach out and meet the needs of our community.
The area to the west side of our church property is currently under development as a new residential community, Osprey Hill. Our church land is also located adjacent to Chinook Winds Adventist Academy. Mountain View's location is in a prime spot to serve the school community and the surrounding neighbourhoods.
The completion of the Stoney Trail ring road has made our land and future building site highly visible to the public and optimally positioned to bring awareness to the Adventist church and its mission.
We are planning to build our new church facility in phases. A phased approach gives us an achievable fundraising goal and the needed funds to build a facility that would meet our short-term needs, with room for expansion as we are able to raise funds for the second phase in the future.
To design and construct the first phase of our building, we would combine our raised funds, Alberta Conference contribution, financing and sell a portion of our land. Our goal is to raise $1 million dollars over a three-year (36-month) time period (represented by the green portion in the pie chart).
